2026 Under-16 Representative Programme
Overview
2026 sees the exciting return of the National Under-16 Tournament, creating a fantastic development opportunity for our players.
Tauranga Hockey will be entering:
- One boys' team and one girls' team into the National U16 Tournament, and
- Five additional teams (across boys and girls) into the Northern Region Tournament.
Tournament Information
National U16 Tournament
- Dates: 3–7 October 2026
- Venue: Boys' Auckland and Girls' Christchurch
- Estimated Cost: $1,700 per player
- Costs will be equalised across boys and girls.
Northern Region U16 Tournament
- Dates: 26–29 September 2026
- Venue: North Harbour
- Estimated Cost: $800 per player
Eligibility
National Tournament Eligibility
Players must be:
- Over 14 years old on 1 January 2026, and
- Under 16 years old on 1 January 2026.
Northern Region Tournament Eligibility
Players must be:
- Year 9 in 2026, and
- Under 16 years old on 1 January 2026.
Dual Eligibility (U16 & U18)
If a player qualifies for both U16 and U18, they may only compete in one tournament.
Trial Information
Trial Dates
Times
- Boys: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Girls: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Selection Structure
We will select:
- 1 Boys' National Team and 1 Girls' National Team, and
- 5 additional teams to attend the Northern Region Tournament.
Draft Training Schedule
- August: 16, 23
- September: 13, 17, 20, 23, 27, 30
