2026 Annual Awards and Volunteer Evening

Come along and celebrate the 2026 season and support all those nominated for awards for their contribtution to hockey at a local, regional, national and international level. 

Bar is available for cash and eftpos.

Tickets are $ which includes dinner.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR CRITERIA

Nominees must be volunteers who have contributed significantly to the 2026 Hockey Season at a school, club or  association level. 

This can be in the role of administator, team manager, committee member, treasurer, social media, uniforms etc or all of the above !

The nominee must demonstrate exceptional commitment and dedication to hockey.

Made a positive impact on the lives of players, families, and fellow volunteers

Shows leadership, teamwork, and a spirit of community.

NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN THROUGH THE SEASON UNTIL FRIDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER 2026

Pelase complete a separate nomination form for each nominee and send through a photo of the nominee to accounts@tgahockey.co.nz.

All nominees must have demonstrated the values of Tauranga Hockey Association Integrity, Inclusion and Respect 


COACH OF THE YEAR CRITERIA

Tauranga Hockey Association recognises the exceptional contribution by coaches within our hockey community who work hard and who enrich the lives of players through providing the opportunity to participate in our sport. 

Nominations are now sought from Players/Parents/Caregivers or Schools whose coach has made a positive contribution to the team and demonstrated quality attributes and the values of the Tauranga Hockey Association in each of the 4 grades below.  

  • THA Mini Sticks or Kiwi Sticks Coach 

  • THA Kwik Sticks Coach 

  • THA Secondary School Coach - all divisions

  • THA Club Coach - all divisions

Award Criteria 

  • Recognises the characteristics and is sensitive to the needs of all the players in the team 

  • Demonstrates a player centred coaching philosophy 

  • Develops the hockey skills and game awareness of all the players throughout the season while making it an enjoyable experience 

  • Manages the relationships and roles of Coach, Asst Coach, Manager and Parent Supporters well.  

  • Promoting fair play and rotating players to develop them all equally 

  • Creates a safe environment during practice and at matches 

  • Communication is always enthusiastic and positive with both players, parents, and officials 

  • Is well organised with a planned season, training sessions and match day activities  

  • Demonstrates respect for officials, opponents, and supporters  

  • Demonstrates a willingness to develop as a coach by attending sessions offered by THA, HNZ or Sport Bay of Plenty.
