Tauranga Hockey appoints Sam Bartholomew as new Pathways Manager

Tauranga Hockey is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Bartholomew into the position of Pathways Manager.

Sam comes to Tauranga Hockey from his current role as Head of Hockey for Kristin School.  Sam has a strong background in player development where he has coached the North Harbour NHL Women’s team for the past 6 years including winning the title in Tauranga in 2019.  He has also been an assistant coach for the Future Black Sticks.

Tauranga Hockey General Manager Clinton Butler said he is excited to have Sam joining the team – “after a lengthy search we are delighted to be welcoming Sam to the Tauranga Hockey family.  Sam has built up a lot of experience over the years and we believe he will add real benefit to the association as we look to deliver on the Pathways Strategy that was finalised earlier this year.  I’m sure everyone will join me in welcoming Sam to our association

Commenting on his appointment, Sam said I am incredibly excited to be appointed Pathways Manager at Tauranga Hockey. I believe the world-class facilities and increasing player numbers at Tauranga Hockey are the ideal foundation to grow the game in the area. I look forward to leading the new Pathways Strategy that will provide the perfect platform to produce the next generation of New Zealand representatives in either playing, coaching or officiating”.

Sam will officially start in the role on Monday 10 January 2022.
